MAY 12, 2008 - MAY 13, 2008 - and continuing


On sunday a fire had started and was being taken care of by the fire department asap until May 12 when i was in school i notice after 5 period that smoke was near by and so did many other students at my school and took note of it at 6 period. Of course after maybe 10 to 15 minutes later we began to smell smoke circulating around the class. we knew it was from the fire and wondered if we would be evacuated soon but still we were kept in class until helicoppers flew over head carrying water. This kept happening until the announcement came on telling us to stay in 6 period until further notice.Many of the students in my class were coughing heavily and we grew worried as the helicopper kept flying by. Until about 2:30 ish or so we were immediately told to go to the cafeteria. As we walked out our school was engulfed in yellow smoke. Many panic including this poor girl who had cruches and a broken broke her other leg in the process. My friend stayed with her until i got help and we had to leave her with the teacher to find the rest of our friends. the whole cafteria was full of screams and shouts we couldn't hear a thing of what was going on. after 5 to 10 minutes the fire began to consume the carpool area which was evacuated eariler. We were told to go to the 700 building as its called, and pick any classroom and sit there until buses arrived. again it was difficult to breathe especailly for me since i have asthema(sp), i covered my nose as best i could with my shirt but the smoke overpowered it. The smoke and fire had surrounded almost the whole school and it was getting difficult for thoses who were in panic and distress(sp). people were trying to escape by running out to the bus loop and make a run for home, i don't think anyone made it out per say because i to was about to try and make a run for it aswell but a teacher was right in front of me and i cursed the thought away going into a classroom where i met another friend who rode my bus, i was thankful. we talked for awhile until finally the buses were here and at first i was confuesed about which buse to take until another friend that rode the bus told me to follow the firend i met inthe classroom and we made it to a bus. As we drove a large group of kids behind me were yelling and crying so loud i almost wanted to tell them to shut up but i knew how scary it was so i let it go. They were screaming to a friend of thiers to get on a bus as we drove away. During and before this i kept my mom in check on what was going on. She was trying to hurrying home and drop off my brother and see where we were to be taken. I asked the bus driver where we were transporting to and we were being taken to a middle not to far away but far enough. I texted my mom about it. We made it to the middle school which again cramed us into a small cafeteria and began calling names of those whose parents /guardians were here. I stayed with my other frineds for awhile trying to see if i could do anything but at this point everyone was fine. I traveled back to my bus firends and stayed with them.One of the bus friends went off somewhere in the cafeteria while the rest of us stayed near the annoucer which suddendly called out bus number. We dashed and weaved our way until we got on our bus with our favorite bus driver who we thank repeated and told him we owed him something for this. He was modest and said no problem. The only one or possibly two we couldn't wait for to get on the bus was the one who disappeared from us. We had to leave. I texted my mom telling her i was on a bus heading home. There was only four of us on the bus and i just talked to my friends and let them call their parents on my phone. After that i said good bye and ran for home hugging my pets to death and waited for my mom to come back home. When she did i told her everything that happened and so we listen to the news who told us around 6 to 7 o' clock that we should start or brance ourselves against the fire so to speak. We began to dampen everything our lawn and house because the fire was not to far way. Helicppoers and smoke rose everywhere before kind of ,as ashes of charred leaves blew in the sky. We did all that we could to keep our home safe, but lucky for us the fire didn't come and we were able to rest a bit easy that night. In the morning of May 13 helicoppers still flew over head. 12 fires were set of by arsonist(sp) and at least 50 + homes were destroyed or burned to the ground. A mother with her childern came home ,after a play in the park , to see thier home on fire and out ot reach for help to save it.

On May 14 which is today, 140 + home are destroyed or burned to ground, helicopper are still flying by and smoke can still be smelt but not quite seen near by my house. My school is said to still be in crisis so school may be out for awhile. We are still searching for the arsonists (sp).
